* Incident Handling

Have you been hacked? Or think you might have been hacked? If
so, you probably needed some temporary expertise to confirm
the intrusion, stabilise the situation and make the first steps
towards ensuring that it can't happen again.

We have direct experience of systems that have been hacked and,
in some cases, are still being exploited by baddies and other
unauthorised users. This means that we can provide short-term help,
covering both UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms.

* Policy Development

Everyone knows why firewalls, vulnerability testing and intrusion
protection systems are needed. But how do they relate to business
requirements? And are they in step with operational procedures
in the rest of the organisation?

To get the best out of any network security expenditure, whether on
protection systems or assessment exercises, it is important to have
a security policy in place.  This identifies critical information
and services and defines the level of protection needed for them.

IDsec staff have considerable experience in this area, having
worked with government departments and commercial organisations
in developing policies that can be used by staff at all levels
to guide deployments and day-to-day operations.

* Management Support

Constant change in the network security field makes it very
difficult to plan ahead. Projects come and go so fast that the
workload never matches the resources on hand.

We can supply experienced consultants to balance the load. They
can take on technical tasks such as firewall tuning and monitoring
or help sort out the procedural and management issues for the
longer term.
